What damage has postmodernism left behind?

Postmodernism has weakened society's confidence in objective truth, moral absolutes and shared values. By questioning the existence of universal truths, it has sometimes encouraged relativism, blurred the distinction between truth and opinion, and made meangingfull moral dialogue more difficult. however, questioning authority ad challenging established assumptions can also be valuable. The damage comes when questioning everything leaves us believing in nothing.

Can you believe something without evidence and still call it reasonable?

I was raised to trust my instincts and my community, and I have friends who trust evidence and logic above all. I am not sure these two ways of knowing are really in conflict, or whether one of them is simply doing a different job. Where do you draw the line between faith and reason?

Why do we resist changing our minds, even when the evidence is clear?

I notice this in myself constantly. A study contradicts something I believe, and instead of updating, I look for reasons it must be flawed. Is this just ego, or is there something protective happening? And how do we make it easier to be wrong gracefully?

Some of the wisest people I know seem to hold their deepest beliefs with both conviction and openness. They are not uncertain, but they are not brittle either. How do you stay committed to something without closing yourself off to being wrong?

I have watched people I love stop speaking over politics. It feels like the stakes got too high to be gentle. Is there a way to hold strong views and still stay in relationship with people who hold the opposite? What has actually worked for you?
